The District Education Authority has announced an extension of holidays for schools located in flood-impacted areas of Pindi Bhattian, Hafizabad.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Education, educational institutions in 111 villages will remain closed until September 12. The decision was taken as many school buildings sustained structural damage from floodwaters. Authorities stated that classes will only resume once the facilities are inspected and declared secure for use.
The official notice clarified that primary, middle, and high schools in these flood-hit localities will remain shut due to the prevailing situation.
Data released by the Punjab School Education Department revealed that province-wide, 2,925 government schools have been closed because of flooding. Among them, 817 have been partially damaged, 45 completely destroyed, and over 1,700 are currently being used as relief camps.
